Hemmens Hammock supports active outdoor lifestyles and communities promoting environmental sustainability. It was founded by an experienced hiker and a nature lover. Therefore, respecting the environment is integrated into our brand DNA and is the core of every product that we make.

That can sometimes be challenging when taking into consideration the materials we have to use to achieve our essential features - durability, lightness, and longevity of our hammocks, but we strive to be as respectful to the environment as we possibly can.

Here's what we do day-to-day to minimize our impact on the environment:

WE PICK & CHOOSE CAREFULLY
Our main goal is to carefully select quality and durable materials that last for years. We never fall for trends and do not support fast fashion business models and production. Hammocks can never go out of style, can they?

WE WANT OUR SUPPLIERS CLOSE TO US
In the best-case scenario, all our suppliers would be in our city, but that has proven to be impossible so far... So, we try to find reliable suppliers in Croatia or in nearby countries to avoid long journeys and to have less impact on the environment.

WE PRODUCE LOCALLY
Our production is based in Croatia. After we gather all the materials, we do what we love the most - make products in our workshop in Zagreb, Croatia. It's a small workshop, messy most of the time, but we love the energy and the end result.

WE USE SCRAPS
We tend to minimize the textile industry's environmental impact, so we make some items from workshop scraps. And we're not afraid to say it. Most of our bags and some small-sized hiking gear are made from scraps and that's exactly where our creativity kicks in. Everyone can make a bag from a roll, but can you make one from that last part of the roll which everyone would consider trash?

WE AVOID STOCKING
We keep a low stock and make on-demand items to avoid mass production. That sometimes proves to be a challenge, but it also gives the advantage of personalized products. Let's say you love our product but you want just a little tweak to make it perfect for you - we can do it because we make it on-demand.

WE BELIEVE IN DIGITAL MORE THAN IN PAPER
We have some business cards, leaflets, stickers and we use them carefully, but other than that we try to avoid printing as much as we can. We'd love to see our branding everywhere, but not at all cost. If it's something that will be thrown away without a glance, it's not something we need.

WE REPAIR
The good thing about producing your own items is the ability to make repairs if needed. It hasn't happened many times so far, but after years of using your hammock, it can rip. We encourage everyone to always try to REPAIR first. When it's repaired it can be used for quite some time or regifted.

WE REPURPOSE
Whoever is done with their hammock - no ideas how to repurpose it or who to gift it to, they can send it to us! We'll repurpose it, we always have some ideas. We'll also give them a promo code for a discount or free shipping with their next purchase.
